Why Use CCTV Systems

CCTV systems have achieved a significant reduction in crime and anti-social behaviour by providing 24 hour surveillance of vulnerable areas, with digital recording of events or incidents being available to help the police in tracing goods or criminals.

A high quality CCTV system provided by us will give excellent quality pictures in daylight and darkness, with ease and flexibility of use. Our systems will also provide good quality images from its recorders for evidence or analysis of an event should it be required.

Choosing The Right Security System

Smart Connect are happy to help you every step of the way, starting with system recommendations and planning of camera positions. Whether you're looking for remote accessibility, 4K quality, outdoor, indoor or night vision cameras, we can guide you towards the best suited system.

Smart Connect caters to commercial and domestic clients. Whether you're after some peace of mind at home, or looking for a business solution, we can help. Smart Connect has successfully installed CCTV in corner shops, office blocks, warehouses, homes and much more.

IR (Infrared)/Night-vision CCTV Systems

With a lot of crime happening under the cover of darkness, IR (infrared)/ Night-Vision CCTV is essential. IR cameras help you see in the dark when you can't. They have the ability to see in low, and no light (0 Lux). Infrared cameras have IR LEDs positioned around the outer edges of the camera lens which gives the camera its "Night Vision".

Infrared Cameras can capture acceptable video in total darkness and even better quality video in low light. Even a small amount of ambient light helps the overall night vision capability of IR cameras a lot. This can be in the form of nearby street lighting or even motion sensor lights. This should however be discussed during a site survey prior to installation.

Here are a few options to consider when choosing your new CCTV system:

• Price.
• Distance to the area you're looking to record.
• Are you using it as a deterrent or complete facial recognition?
• How many hours are you looking to record before content is over-written?

IP or Analogue?

IP or Digital (also referred to as Analogue CCTV) - What's the difference, and what's best for me? It's a question that we get asked a lot. Unfortunately we wouldn't be able to give you a definitive answer without viewing your premises first - however here are a few things you should know:

  • IP works over your internet lines, allowing it to become a more flexible system.
  • Analogue is generally cheaper up-front costs, although for some installations, it may be more cost effective to run IP CCTV cameras.
  • IP Cameras tend to have a lot more features.
  • IP Cameras tend to have a higher resolution.
  • Remote access: You can remotely watch your CCTV from a smartphone, PC, or tablet with an IP system

Dome, Bullet or PTZ?

Theres a wide range of CCTV camera styles, the main three categories however are: Dome, Bullet and PTZ.

Dome cameras are generally mounted on a ceiling or side wall mounted for areas such as alleyways. These can be found in vandal-proof variations and the lenses are generally protected by the dome.

Bullet CCTV cameras are your traditional style camera. They're fixed cameras and can be pole-mounted, wall-mounted and can also be ceiling-mounted. They're a versatile camera but can sometimes be prone to vandalism unless positioned up high.

PTZ (pan-tilt-zoom) cameras come in different variations however their main function is that the lens and the cameras direction can be moved, focused and monitored from another device such as a computer, monitoring station or mobile device.

Smart Connect have provided us with a first class service for well over a decade.  Originally they provided the telephone system only but in the end they took over the management of the telephone lines too as they are so much easier to deal with than the larger more well known companies
